Why do we keep adding the D for disorder to Dissociative Identity and Post Traumatic Stress? Isn't this just another way of pathologizing ourselves? My firm belief is that while it does cause challenges
in our life, it is NOT a disorder, but rather a very understandable ORDERED response to a disordered environment. Let's stop taking on the blame and put it where it belongs.

I love your thought! I have often thought the same thing. It's not a disorder. it's a solution. Disociative Identity Solution.

I agree while you are discussing a way of life, thinking, believing, solution, coping, etc. So, “multiple” might be an alternative. But, would be confusing for mental health professional who use it for dx. That’s what you meant, right?

DID is not really a disorder at all. Instead, it is a developmental problem as we did not coalesce into one whole personality at the age of 5-7 years. We missed a very important milestone when children associate all the aspects of who we are. Calling it a disorder is a misnomer but it is all we have for now. Morgan

I very much agree!
Too much of the DSM is built out of nonscience, garbage science, fraudian nonsense, and is generally just a control tool for profit to sell the next best drug.
It can help people get a label which allows them access to services, but even then, services in many areas are poor quality, or we'd all have been healed from our traumas by now.
Psychology has improved a great deal in a Scientific sense when corrections are made to ideas in psychology based on neuroscience. Too many "professionals" don't care, nor do they care to learn actual sciences to learn to do their jobs correctly.
...
Multiple Personality Systems arise from abuses so extreme, they're simply unbearable. I'm not even sure I'd call PTSD "disordered" since it's a natural result of trauma that just needs appropriate kinds of healing.
I've healed myself far more than anyone's "professional help" ever has, so I have extreme distrust of people who think of themselves as an authority on mental health issues in U.S. Too many of them are just in it for profit, and don't even care about the actual science of things.
We were built to heal ourselves, as I have been finding out via distress tolerating my delusions. The problems I had in the past was people messing up my processes.
That seems pretty ordered to me.

I was always told by my councilor that DID was a coping mechanism that allowed me to survive.

A Bit About Me: Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our life.

I agree with all of you. None of it could be better said. "we are the solution not the problem".
