About the programs
Homewood Health Centre is one of Canada’s largest hospitals for mental health and addiction care. For many years it was home to Canada’s only inpatient program for PTSD, the Program for Traumatic Stress Recovery.
Today that work continues in the Traumatic Stress Injury and Concurrent Program, a nine-week inpatient program focused on trauma, for adults who have lived through traumatic events. “Concurrent” means it can also treat substance use or other mental health problems at the same time. There is also a Women’s Trauma and Concurrent Program, where women heal in a women-only setting, which helps many feel safer and more connected.
Care comes from a full team: psychiatrists, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers, occupational and recreational therapists, and expressive arts therapists. Treatment includes group and individual therapy, with time for both rest and connection with others in the program.
Homewood also has programs for eating disorders, for mood and anxiety problems, and for adults 55 and over.
Ivory Garden does not endorse any program. Homewood’s trauma programs are not made specifically for dissociative disorders, so ask about their experience with DID. Please contact Homewood directly about current services, admissions and coverage.
