About Ivory Garden

Twenty years of support, friendship, and understanding

Ivory Garden began in 2006 as a small online forum for people living with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Over the years our home has moved from EZBoards to Yuku, Invision, ProBoards, and now to our own private, secure server — but the heart of the community has never changed: a safe, respectful place where people are understood.

Our story

2006

Our forum opens

A small online space where survivors could find each other, share their experiences, and feel less alone.

2011

We become a nonprofit

Ivory Garden became a 501(c)(3) organization, allowing us to offer practical help to members in need.

2014 – 2017

Four annual conferences

We hosted four conferences in Seattle, bringing together survivors, community members, professional providers, and families and loved ones.

Today

Still going strong

Our private forum and twice-weekly virtual support groups continue, along with the friendships that have grown here over the years.

What we do

A caring community

Members support one another every day, and many have formed long-lasting friendships.

Practical help

Over the years we’ve helped members find housing, therapists, food, transportation, and other resources when times were hard.

Learning together

For more than 10 years we’ve hosted live webinars with therapists and speakers, and we continue our groups twice a week.

With Gratitude

Thank you, NAMI

National Alliance on Mental Illness

For more than a decade, NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, has stood beside Ivory Garden. When people reach out to the NAMI HelpLine looking for support with dissociative disorders, NAMI points them to us, describing Ivory Garden as a private forum for people living with trauma-related conditions such as dissociative disorders and PTSD, with weekly virtual meetings for those seeking support.

Very few organizations make room for people living with DID. NAMI has, and it has made a real difference. Over the years, NAMI has sent us many members who have found support, friendship, and understanding here.

No matter how many times we say it, it never feels like enough: thank you, NAMI. Your steady support has helped survivors find one another, and it has helped keep this community going.
