About the program

The Meadows has been treating trauma and addiction for more than 45 years. Its main campus covers 14 acres in the Sonoran Desert town of Wickenburg, Arizona.

Its approach, called the Meadows Model, was developed by Pia Mellody. It focuses on childhood relational trauma, the hurt that comes from growing up without the safety, care and respect every child needs. The idea is that many adult struggles, including addiction, depression and relationship problems, grow out of those early wounds, so treatment works on the roots rather than only the symptoms.

Treatment combines small-group and one-on-one therapy, full medical assessments, family involvement, and body-based approaches such as Somatic Experiencing and neurofeedback. Holistic care and a nutrition program are part of every stay. The Meadows also runs other programs, including ones for women, men and young adults.

Ivory Garden does not endorse any program. The Meadows is a trauma and addiction program, not one made specifically for dissociative disorders, so ask about their experience with DID before you go. Please contact The Meadows directly about current services, admissions and insurance.
