Three Decades
Three decades
Three decades since I was supposed to die.
Three decades since I entered therapy
Three decades since I was diagnosed
Three decades
Three decades
I’ve spent half my life struggling
Trying to find who I am and what I want
I’m still endeavoring and seeking after
Three decades
Three decades
Of tears I thought would never end
Of fear that was overwhelming
Of pain no one and nothing could comfort these
Three decades
Three decades
Of tumultuous drama that tried to kill me
I shouldn’t be alive yet here I am
Resilience, hope, curiosity
Have been my tools for survival these
Three decades
Three decades
Three decades of fighting
Three decades of discovery
Three decades of learning
Three decades, it’s time to move on
